The Importance of Kindness in the Midst of a World in Chaos
In a world that feels increasingly loud and divided, kindness is not weakness—it’s strength. From a four-year-old’s hug to the wisdom of midlife, kindness is how we reclaim our humanity, build connection, and create a legacy that outlasts chaos.
Black or Grey? The DMV Made Me Pick a Side
A trip to the DMV is never high on anyone’s list of fun ways to spend the day, but I didn’t expect mine to turn into a full-blown identity crisis. All it took was one unexpected question: “Black or grey?”
Officially Submitting My Application to the East Texas Branch of the WDNC Club
Today, I’m officially submitting my application to the East Texas Branch of the WDNC Club — founded by the one and only @justbeingmelani. Because we’re not done growing, glowing, or giving a damn — we’ve just refined what we give a damn about.
Still Learning: Reaching Goals in Midlife

“There’s No Such Thing As Menopause?” Bless Your Heart.
Some folks are out here claiming menopause isn’t real—that it’s made up, exaggerated, or caused by seed oils and society. Bless their hearts. Because my hot flashes aren’t a conspiracy. The brain fog didn’t come with a hashtag. And my sister’s male OB-GYN told her perimenopause “wasn’t a thing.”
This post is for every woman who’s been dismissed, gaslit, or told her experience isn’t valid. Menopause is real. What’s new is the way we’re finally speaking up about it—and we’re not shutting up anytime soon.
Welcome to Midlife in Mabank!
The Road to Midlife
Not long ago, I was out driving, just me, the road, and the wide-open East Texas sky, when it hit me: midlife isn’t a pause or a detour. It’s the road itself. And around every curve, the view gets a little richer.
Who I Am
I’m Brandy. I’m 50. I’m a respiratory therapist, wife, mom, and Nana; all rolled into one real woman figuring it out as I go. I live in a small town with a big heart and even bigger stories to tell.
Why This Space Exists
This space was born from those stories: the messy, beautiful, surprising ones that show up when the kids are grown, the mirror tells the truth, and the world starts asking, “Now what?”
