May the Fourth, and the Joy I Never Outgrew
A childhood memory, a lifelong love of Star Wars, and the quiet return to joy in midlife. This is about holding onto what lights you up, even when the world tells you to outgrow it.
Women Don’t Lose Value With Age. We Stop Negotiating It
There’s a narrative circulating that men gain value with age while women lose it. I’m not here to argue with it. I’m here to dismantle it.
Jokes on Me
I used to be certain about how life would unfold. Midlife has shown me something different. The joke is not cruel, it is clarifying, and I am learning to be okay with that.
Why I’m Done Romanticizing Busy
There was a time when busy felt like proof. Now I am learning that enough feels better, and a quieter life can still be a full one.
Finding Steadiness After a Hard Year
I don’t do resolutions anymore. What I reach for now is something quieter. After a hard year shaped by uncertainty and change, I found myself choosing steadiness instead of striving, presence instead of panic, and a gentler way of moving forward in midlife.
The Gentle Power of Gratitude
There was a time when I thought gratitude had to be grand. But midlife has taught me something different, that real gratitude lives in the quiet moments, the everyday details, the things we often overlook. It’s become one of the most healing parts of my wellness routine.
Welcome to Midlife in Mabank!
The Road to Midlife
Not long ago, I was out driving, just me, the road, and the wide-open East Texas sky, when it hit me: midlife isn’t a pause or a detour. It’s the road itself. And around every curve, the view gets a little richer.
Who I Am
I’m Brandy. I’m 50. I’m a respiratory therapist, wife, mom, and Nana; all rolled into one real woman figuring it out as I go. I live in a small town with a big heart and even bigger stories to tell.
Why This Space Exists
This space was born from those stories: the messy, beautiful, surprising ones that show up when the kids are grown, the mirror tells the truth, and the world starts asking, “Now what?”
