Finding My Way Back to Fun
There was a season when fun quietly disappeared.
Not all at once. Not dramatically. It just slipped out of the margins as life filled up with responsibility, routine, and the constant awareness of what needed to be done next. Fun wasn’t banned. It just wasn’t prioritized.
I didn’t notice its absence right away.
It wasn’t until later that I realized how long it had been since I did something simply because it sounded enjoyable, without weighing the cost in time or energy first.
Now, I’m finding my way back to fun differently than I once did.
It’s not loud. It’s not spontaneous in the way it used to be. It doesn’t require a full calendar or big plans. It shows up in small, manageable ways that fit the life I actually live.
Fun happens when I’m not overextended. When my schedule has margin. When I’ve said no enough times that yes feels genuine again.
I’m learning that fun doesn’t return through effort. It returns through availability.
Availability of time. Availability of energy. Availability of self.
I don’t force it. I don’t chase it. I let it find me in moments that feel light instead of demanding.
This version of fun feels honest.
It doesn’t compete with responsibility or pretend life is simpler than it is. It just reminds me that enjoyment still belongs here, even now, even in this season.
And that feels like something worth making room for.
